Reconstruction of North Runway 1C-19C and Associated Taxiways Y, Y2, Y3, Y4 and Y5
Washington Dulles International Airport undertook a major infrastructure upgrade with the reconstruction of the north end of Runway 1C-19C and its associated taxiways. This project enhanced the structural integrity and operational reliability of one of the airport’s primary runways and taxiway systems, supporting safe and efficient aircraft movement.
Atlantic Electric, LLC completed the electrical scope, which included full demolition and installation of the airfield lighting systems. The lighting work featured runway edge lighting, runway status lights, taxiway lead-in lights, touchdown zone lights, and illuminated signage. Atlantic also installed complete medium voltage underground electrical systems for the nearby security guard station and batch plant. The electrical infrastructure included medium voltage concrete-encased ductbanks, cabling, precast manholes and handholes, transformers, grounding systems, communication cabling, and overhead electrical and pole work.
