Pope Army Airfield Runway 05-23 Pavement & Airfield Lighting Rehabilitation

Client: United States Army

Location: Pope Army Airfield, NC

Contract Value: $26,250,000

Project Duration: January 2021 to October 2022

Pope Army Airfield is a vital installation supporting the U.S. Army’s air mobility, training, and deployment missions. Modernizing its primary runway and connected taxiways was essential to enhance flight safety, improve reliability, and sustain operational readiness within a high-tempo aviation environment.

Atlantic Electric provided a full electrical package for the runway reconstruction, including new concrete-encased ductbanks, manholes and handholes, counterpoise and grounding systems, and fiber innerduct to TACAN equipment. The team installed LED runway, taxiway, and apron lighting; REILS, PAPI, and glide-slope systems; airfield signage and wind cones; and new vault power distribution with CCR switchgear and ALCMS interface. Comprehensive testing and commissioning ensured long-term performance.
