MCAS Beaufort Electrical Distribution

Client: United States Marine Corps

Location: Beaufort, SC

Contract Value: $11,380,000

Project Duration: December 2023 to Present

Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort serves as a critical aviation training and operations base for the U.S. Marine Corps. This design-build project aims to strengthen the base’s electrical distribution system by relocating all existing overhead power lines underground, enhancing overall infrastructure resilience and reliability.

Atlantic Electric, LLC is responsible for the design and installation of the underground electrical infrastructure. Scope includes constructing an underground medium voltage primary loop distribution system across eight work segments, three alternates, and two partial alternates. The project consolidates four existing overhead radial feeders into three underground looped feeders. Work includes installation of pad-mounted selector switches, sectionalizing cabinets, underground duct banks, feeder conductors, new electrical manholes, and associated grounding systems.
